UXStrat 2021

I was asked to present the opening keynote at the UXStrat 2021 conference in Boulder. This annual conference brings together a global community of design leaders to discuss the strategic impact that design, specifically user experience can have on businesses and their products. In this keynote I was asked to summarize the current state of design strategy.

IIT Design Strategy Conference

In 2007 I was invited by Patrick Whitney to give a keynote on the challenges faced by design-led organizations at the annual IIT Institute of Design’s Strategy Conference. At the time I was a working in the Office of CEO on an initiative by Hasso Plattner to establish design as the third leg of the company's strategy.

This presentation is collection of learnings from the transformation of SAP into an organization which has placed design on par with engineering and sales.

Brave UX

In 2022 I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Brendan Jarvis for his BraveUX podcast. Brendan is a great interviewer, covering a number of topics and diving in on the challenges facing design and the people who practice it.

We covered SAP transformation to Design Thinking. Brendan observation that “Design Maturity Starts with Designers' Maturity” is spot on and summarizes the issues being discussed by design leaders around the world.
